The inagural Reality Race 5K and Pump n’ Run was a major success! Saturday, December 12th, turned out to be a beautiful winter day and runners showed up in droves to help support Reality Ministries from downtown Durham.
Due to some generous private donations from Mark and Stacey Yusko of Chapel Hill, NC, Tim and Kerry Mann of Chapel Hill, NC, and Oscar and Michie House of Durham, NC, that covered all the expenses of the event, all proceeds from the event and its participants were donated to Reality Ministries in downtown Durham.
We had a total of just over 100 runners take place in the 1st year event and a close to a 20 or so take part in the Pump n’ Run. Eric Speer from Durham was the top finisher in 17:31 on a challenging hilly course that goes around the Washington-Duke Golf Course.

ActivEdge’s own, Rachel Kroll, was the top female and 6th overall with a time of 20:33. ActivEdge also had 3 more in the top 6 with Jordan High School standout, Aaron Taylor, in 2nd overall, Steve Mele in 4th overall, and David Drewry in 5th overall.

In the Pump n’ Run portion of the event, Lauren Holahan, from Durham, NC, was the top female and Steve Mele the top male. Lauren was also the only participant, female or male, that was able to “Beat the Trainer” and bested ActivEdge’s head trainer Meredith Parker Falcon in the bench press portion of the Rump n’ Run. She won a brand new iPod Shuffle donated by ActivEdge for her triumph.
