Shane grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and attended Appalachian State University for two years before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, getting his BA in Exercise and Sport Science in 2018. While at Appalachian, he was a walk-on pitcher for the baseball team and continued his love for the game in Chapel Hill where he was team president of the club baseball team.
After graduation, Shane switched his focus from playing baseball to umpiring baseball and currently works in various college divisions. In January 2020, he began his journey of physical therapy school at Elon University and completed his doctorate degree in December 2022. Shane enjoys watching and playing sports, working out, playing his guitar, and spending time with his friends in addition to being on a baseball diamond.
