Group classes will be in the style of Forrest Yoga. Forrest Yoga is a modern yoga style based on Hatha yoga, created by and named for Ana T. Forrest. The style is derived from some aspects of Sivanada Yoga, with attention to alignment and use of props from Iyengar Yoga, and the sequencing from Ashtanga Yoga. Classes emphasize holding of poses to develop muscle tone and flexibility, abdominal core work to improve posture and musculoskeletal alignment, and vigorous sequencing to sharpen focus and cultivate mindfulness. In addition to improving strength and cardiovascular fitness, Forrest Yoga was designed as a therapeutic modality to treat common afflictions of modern society. Classes include a number of unique poses and sequences to relieve and prevent issues such as carpal tunnel syndrome, neck, shoulders, upper and lower back pain, etc. The poses are fully adaptable so that each student can capture the full benefit of the class, whether they are a beginner or an experienced practitioner. Flexibility and strength are not required, and poses can be modified to accommodate personal injuries.
Private and semi-private yoga classes will be fully customized in order to meet each student’s fitness goals and health needs. The style of the class can include Hatha, Forrest, and even prenatal or postnatal yoga. Individual attention will ensure that each student receives maximum benefit from each class, and that poses are performed in the most effective and safe manner possible. Private classes also provide an excellent motivational tool for working toward personal fitness goals
